How'd you go with the challenge, Temper Tantrums and Dummy Spits I must admit I did challenge myself a lot on this one. I didn't just look at when I was angry but just what my reactions were in most instances. If I started getting annoyed, I asked myself why. Sad, why? Where was this coming from, what was it's cause and when possibly did I condition myself to feel this way. I also had a night of the doubting thomas, where I got to a place of self doubt, worry and questioning what I needed to do to reach the next stage. A good night's sleep help with that. This weekend I also undertook my unplug challenge, where I attempted to unplug from the internet, the tv and radio. It all started out fine, I sat and ate breakfast and skimmed a book until I was done, then I had a shower and took myself and a book I hadn't picked up for years and years outside to bask in the glorious sun. Later in afternoon, I shouted myself a leisurely glass of red wine or two while I read. The family were watching dvd's inside. I must admit several times I wanted to pick up my phone and gaze through FB or the news on my phone or call my best friend to say hior check in with my friend Paula's blog but my was on charge in the bedroom. I had to ask what the time was as we have no visible clock, then I had a peek. Oh some random number that wasn't in my contacts had left a voicemail on my phone. Curious and curiouser, I checked it, thinking that's something I'll attend to on Monday. Went out to friends house, took phone in case of emergencies and left it in my bag. Ended up I had to access it to call a taxi and try to access bank (but damn thing was down for maintenance). Got home, had some sweet wine and went what the heck, so I checked FB and learned my friends brother in law had passed. Soon after reading this, I heard fireworks going off somewhere nearby, I dubbed them in his name. I'll try my challenge again next weekend.
Today's Topic:
Well here's 10 things I learned since I posted on Friday:
1. The doubting thomas feeling is self sabotage and I shall be better equipped to handle it next time.
2. Re-reading an old book you haven't read in eons can enlighten you once again. Yes, I picked up Robert McCammmon's Swan Song. It's got some treasure lines in it. Although it's not the greatest of subject matter, there are some wonderfully rich characters within the plot. It also revealed how the mind can play tricks, I always thought that the line, Take one step to get you to where you are going was a line from, The Stand by Stephen King, nope it's from this book. I had held that belief for a very long time.
3. Taxi drivers have the most interesting stories. The one we used could have written a book about his life in Syria. Ever curious me kept asking questions, and he was willing to tell more. Alas it was a short drive.
4. I worry too much. Lol. A friend of ours kept telling me that on Saturday night. I think I should heed the advice.
5. I do not like when the neighbour uses an incessant drill on a Sunday morning before 9am. I was so in a dream state and was rudely woken up. I tried to block it out for a good half and hour, but to no avail. I blurted out at the top of my voice, I'll going to drill that into the side of your head if you don't stop. He or she couldn't hear me but irritated I was. That's not very zen like of me now is it? I got up, albeit in a zombied state. Said drill stopped. Of course!
6. Learning the s, 's and s' grammatical rule is not as easy to comprehend after a five minute visit to a few grammar sites on my phone while waiting for food to cook at the stove top.
7. Coffee and me aren't friends. I don't know what I keep insisting on drinking a cup every now and again. It's not like it's changed any. LOL
9. I won't be letting an argument stew for longer than is necessary, if at all and will forgive and move on.
10. Getting off the internet/phone is good, but I want to go the whole 24 hours next week and set a new goal of doing this once a week.
