Reflections on the What do you Love Challenge:
Today's Topic:
1. I never pursued my dreams and aspirations.
2. I worked too much and never made time for my family.
3. I should have made more time for my friends.
4. I should have said ‘I love you’ a lot more.
5. I should have spoken my mind instead of holding back and resenting things.
6. I should have been the bigger person and resolved my problems.
7. I wish I had children.
8. I should have saved more money for my retirement.
9. Not having the courage to live truthfully.
10. Happiness is a Choice, I wish I knew that earlier.
These are poignant. There is a lot in life we don't do because of this or that. Realistically, the mind can be our greatest enemy or our best friend. What stops us from doing and being who we genuinely are? I think number 5. is my bug bear today. However, speaking ones mind can make enemies too, don't you agree? People are in different stages of emotional and spiritual awareness and can easily get their backs up and nose out of joint. It's a fine line sometimes to speak out, but it's also cleansing when we do, as long as it's said in the spirit of truthfulness and love, rather than spite or hatred. Number 10. is the clincher. It's true that happiness is a choice, it's hard to keep that momentum, but with gentle guidance from you to yourself remember that you deserve to be happy and the choice is yours. Although it's not fail safe and is sometimes hard to muster (remember we are all a work in progress), that the we can change perspective any time we want.
As you read the following words, which ones resonate with you? Bronnie Ware––a nurse in a terminal palliative care unit, decided to poll her patients in their last days in hopes to uncover any regrets so others may learn. This is what they said:
