Reflection on Yesterday's Challenge:
How'd you go with yesterday's challenge: Why All Seconds Are Not Created Equal? I must admit, it is a work in progress to reign in the mind, especially when habitual feelings and insecurities creep in. It's ok, a masterpiece is not created in one day, so this takes time. Just like the puppy quote from Buddhist Boot Camp, "A puppy that goes wherever it wants to and pulls you in all sorts of directions needs to be trained. Your mind is much like a puppy, and when properly trained, can be your best friend."
How's your day? How are you feeling? Are you excited about life? Did you do something different today than you did yesterday or was it similar? As I wrote yesterday, every second is not equal and at any time we can change the way we think. I've also acknowledged how difficult this can be to master or even attempt. However, old scripts don't make new today's or new opportunities for growth do they? Yep, It's easy just to meander along sometimes and not stretch oneself. The path of least resistance is easier and safer. It's also less fearful and very comfortable. How really is your day? Have you done something for you today?
Today's topic:
We've all heard that catch phrase, tomorrow is not promised. Well I'd like to think that the immediate tomorrow is possible and that something I've created today, in it's many seconds could fruit in any given tomorrow. I'm thinking lofty thoughts, something that I wouldn't consider possible today. What can you do today, to create something for your tomorrow? Can you create an opportunity, make a new friend, network with people to create a community of like minded individuals, fundraise for a cause you admire, look into a self employment opportunity, enquire about an x y z that gets you electrified thinking about it. Maybe you've been wanting/needing something and it's been elusive. What information do you need to achieve what you desire? What is something you're frustrated about and wish to understand? Who can you call to clarify? Who can you speak to ask a question? What information can you look up on the internet? What can you create today?
Many many many moons ago, I had post natal depression, it wasn't medically diagnose, nor severe but I was pretty blue for a short while. I remember watching or possibly reading Stephen King's, The Stand. Yeah I know not the most wonderfully uplifting movie/book. Anyway, there was a scene and I vividly remember this phrase, " Take one step to where you're going, one step." It made sense to me, just take one step. You don't have to take on the world, just make small little steps in your day, to get you to where you're going on your journey.
Our challenge today:
Take one small step in a direction you wish to go. Enquire, ask, goggle, phone, organise, write down, plan, become curious, invest time........take action. One small step. Think about that something that when you think about it you say, it's not going to happen, I just don't know how, I'd love to find out about that, I don't know where to start, I've tried it before I failed but am still interested.... What is it and what small step will you take?
