How's you go with yesterday's post: Plot Twist? We all have them. Yes, sometimes those plot twists are dark and frightening, other times they surprise us and bring joy to the body and mind. Regardless of where they fit in the spectrum of the human experience they take one out of the realm of relative comfort and plunge us into places we never thought we might visit.
I was thinking on yesterday's post and realise that there are people who read this blog who say, yes but you don't know what I'm going through, what I've been through, how I feel. I just can't think of what's happened as a plot twist. In some cases people have gone through experiences that will reverb, impact and shape the personal, physically and mentally landscape for a lifetime. I understand this. Each and every human in the history of the world has gone been faced with something previously unimaginable, whether it be pain, death, fear, violence, hurt, hate, shock, joy, beauty and there are those darn plot twists that are just plain annoying. My version of comprehending this now is to look at it as a plot twist on my journey through life. Sometimes those twists meld us into a new way of thinking, change our life course and provide a valuable learning experience. Yes, sometimes plot twists can be damn scary and there's fear, pain and sadness. Looking at things from a new perspective can change the magnitude of how the plot twists impact your/our life. I do not pretend to be able to fathom the complexity of life, only interpret from within my current worldview. I'm human, as are you. We all are working our way through this thing called life. If my words inspire you and make you think then my intent has been achieved.

Today's Topic:
How's your day today? How's your mental state? How are you feeling physically? Have you given your spirit a hug yet?
Today it's hot here, we had some lovely storms last evening. I didn't have the greatest sleep, my body is feeling amazing though, my eyes are a bit sore from looking at the screen. I scrapped my previous attempt at this blog entry as it just didn't work for me and I've given myself a time limit to write this one in. I've looked at an opportunity today, which I'm seriously considering. Every now and again, my mind is wandering to my family and friends, and also what's for dinner and what I'm going to finish this afternoon. I get a text message or FB message every once and a while I attend to. I'm currently feeling quite at peace, but somewhat hurried.

There are 86400 seconds in one day and each second your mind is concentrating on many different things. Yes, it multi-tasks, take a gander. The mind is like an onion. It can manoeuvre and conceive on many layers at once. Thinking of the past, the present and the future in one swoop. Whilst undertaking this, it can nurse an injury. It can think ouch that hurt and also move to do something about it. The mind can write but yet be capable of thinking of something entirely different between the key strokes. Thus each second there is an opportunity to think differently. Each seconds mounts to a minute, each minute to an hour. What are you doing with your seconds as they aren't created equally?
Let's say at second a) you're thinking I hate my life. You sustained that thought over the next 60 seconds, which then turned into a minute and then possibly hours, days, months. This in turn allowed the thought you had at a) to interact with second b) c) d) etc. You pay homage to thought a) by thinking about why you hate your life and the power of thought a) arrived with trumpets with the other seconds coming behind it in procession. Here we are, you can feel us, you created these thoughts, We're all yours. You hate your life, you thought for a second, your may have voiced it too (so another couple seconds worth) your mind just came up with the goodies to affirm it. Sometimes, life doesn't feel like a choice, it just seems damn hard. Your mind though can help you here, by thinking in a more positive way.
Hey we're all human, and we are not perfect. There used to be a saying life sucks and then we die. Well it depends on what we do with it. I recently took a screen shot from a Buddhist Boot Camp post on FB which sums up this post: "A puppy that goes wherever it wants to and pulls you in all sorts of directions needs to be trained. Our mind is the same way, and it requires training to stay on a specific path without wandering off. Training the mind calls for self control, determination, and freedom from anger, towards gratitude, compassion and unconditional love. Your mind is much like a puppy, and when properly trained, can be your best friend."

Today's challenge:
Today's challenge comes in two parts.
Part a) Think about how you're feeling today physically, mentally and spiritually. On a piece of paper write about what you remember of today, thoughts, what happened and how you were feeling. What are your thoughts now. Can you change your seconds to have a better day? If you're having a great day, write how you could make it better.
Part b) Buddhist Boot Camp is a fantastic book and I recommend reading it. In the meantime the page is equally as good: Buddhist Boot Camp Facebook
Let me know how you went and how you felt undertaking this task. If you'd like to get in touch with me personally email me at [email protected]
I'd love your participation and feedback. Go to top of any post and click where it says comments or below each post. You can remain anonymous if you wish. All comments have to be approved prior to publication.
